Indivisible Iowa Johnson County (IJC) is part of the Indivisible Project network, a nonpartisan progressive grassroots American movement founded in 2016 with thousands of chapters across the U.S. Our local chapter’s mission is to defeat fascism and rebuild a thriving Iowa by creating an informed, active, collaborative populace in Johnson County.

No Kings Day

June 14, 2025 – Flag Day – Trump wanted tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else. No Kings was a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we rejected authoritarianism and showed the regime that we will not back down.

Good Trouble Lives On

On July 17, 2025, the fifth anniversary of the passing of civil rights icon and former congressman John Lewis, we carried on his legacy of causing “good trouble”. We walked in solidarity with thousands of others across the nation to speak out against the erosion of civil rights and legal constraints on executive power. Attendees heard stirring words from Iowa City Mayor Bruce Teague and speakers from both Indivisible and Veterans for Peace Chapter 161.
